Custom Made Focusing Hood Tube Dark Cloth for 5X7 Cameras (FH57) $48.00 + $5.00 S&H
Here is what one of my
many satisfied customers had to say about my custom focusing hoods after
he bought both a 4X5 and an 8X10 Hood.
"If any one accessory or devise was to me a must to have,
it is your hoods."
Like I was saying before using one of your hoods, "It was a
frustrating experience to try and see any image or focus with even the
slightest of breeze using a traditional dark cloth or even my shirt or
jacket in the past."
" Now with your hood, I was able to set up, compose my image, and
do a fine focus in a pretty stiff wind that within seconds after taking
the shot (which turned out beautiful) brought in rain and some
unexpected hail. I simply put the hood back over most of the camera and
it now became a cover to protect it from the elements as I scurried to
take cover."
" My ground glass and I are both very happy to have your hood to
use in the unpredictable weather conditions found in the high country of
Colorful Colorado. Besides folding up small enough to fit into a small
fanny pack, it weighs nothing to carry compared to any cloth big enough
to do the job. Your hood works much, much better than any cloth or shirt
sleeve would ever hope to work."
" I can't wait to use my larger hood for the fall foliage shots I
want to take with my 8x10. I usually dread trying to use anything large
enough to get a good dark cover, because it easily turns into a
sail with any kind of wind."
Thanks again for coming up with this Great Product. It sure is
making my composing and focusing so much easier to do. I had always
tried to think of sometime to use as a hood that I could fashion myself
that would aid in my outdoor large format shooting. But, you have the
pattern down, and the materials are perfect (liter weight, durable, and
light tight, not to mention basically weather proof.
Like I said, I used it as somewhat of a shield to protect my
camera when the hard rain and pea sized but abundant hail started. I was
using a rail camera at the time and had just a second after a lighting
strike to close my camera down slip the hood over it and hoist it and
the tripod over my shoulder and run for cover. It protected the lens
and shutter and especially the ground glass from any water or hail hits
as I ran to the car about a half mile away.
For the
price I paid, it is really worth every penny (and I have only used it on
this one trip so far). Having less frustration plus saving me a lot of time
in the composing, focusing process is a great change over the
ole cloth. The light can change in a heart beat, so getting the image and
focus within seconds if necessary is important.
